Hello everyone!
It has been a long time since I’ve had the time to sit down and blog, and oh boy how have I missed it!
So I wanted to share my personal reflection on my most recent event BALANCE, which I hosted with my very good friend, and fellow health & fitness blogger, Zanna Van Dijk.
Zanna and I share a similar outlook on health and fitness. We both believe that a healthy diet and active lifestyle is both achievable and maintainable, alongside juggling work and a social life. We are both advocates of following a balanced diet, one which is not restrictive of important food groups, and one which allows us to be flexible in our everyday lives. There are so many new diet trends popping up and we wanted to take this opportunity to address certain diet myths and help simplify the fundamentals of nutrition.
The event took place at the Whey Hey offices on Sunday the 2nd August. I absolutely loved this venue; it even came equipped with its very own ping pong table and basketball net! For those of you who are not familiar with Whey Hey (you haven’t lived until you have tried it!), it is a protein ice cream which is free of sugar and anything artificial.
The afternoon kicked off with a nutrition talk by Ashton Turner from Enhance Nutrition London. Ashton talked through the basics of nutrition, addressing topics such as fat loss, calorie counting and tracking macros. It was very important for Zanna and I to choose a speaker who was well informed on the subject matter and who could help tackle diet myths or any confusion surrounding nutrition.
Following Ashton’s talk the attendees were presented with a spread of delicious, healthy treats including; tubs of Whey Hey ice-cream and various toppings such as almond butter, cinnamon popcorn, protein cookies and calorie free syrups from Musclefood. Everyone had the opportunity to make their own healthy ice-cream bowl, or ‘Flex bowl’, to sit down and enjoy with one another.
After we all had our fill of ice cream, Zanna and I took to the stage to speak about our health and fitness Journey’s. We then moved onto answering pre-submitted questions by those who had attended the event. This was a great opportunity to start group discussions and share ideas with one another.
To end the event we sipped on superfood cocktails, provided by Belvedere Vodka and imbibery london juices, while our good friend, and You Tube artist, Mollie Bylett sang a beautiful set of acoustic songs.
The feedback from the event has been so positive and I personally really enjoyed hosting this event, and I know Zanna felt the same. Following the success of Balance we plan to turn it into a series of events and we would love to see some more of you there. Keep your eye’s peeled on both our social media channels!
Have a fantastic August guys, don’t forget to let your hair down and enjoy what is left of the summer!
